Hawzah News Agency- In his Friday sermon at the Grand Mosque of Gilgit, Hojatoleslam Syed Rahat Hussain al-Husseini, head of the Imamia Association of Gilgit and Friday prayer leader of the city, said: "Knowledge of the Ahl al-Bayt is not merely a title for expressing love and devotion, but a practical school for recognizing and defending truth, establishing justice, preserving human dignity, and standing against oppression and tyranny."
He stressed that knowledge of the Ahl al-Bayt should not be limited to heartfelt affection or affiliation with their school of thought, but requires Muslims to apply their teachings, conduct, ethics, and practical principles in their individual and social lives.
Justice and Support for the Oppressed: Core Principles of the Ahl al-Bayt School
Referring to the most important teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt, the Friday prayer leader said: "Seeking justice, supporting the oppressed, speaking truth, preserving human dignity, patience, courage, and striving to reform society are among the fundamental principles of the Ahl al-Bayt's teachings."
He added that Muslims must elevate these principles beyond words and slogans and turn them into part of their individual and social behavior, because the Ahl al-Bayt's legacy is not merely for historical study — it can guide humanity in confronting the issues and challenges of today's society.
Ahl al-Bayt's Legacy: A Guide for Confronting Social Divisions
Al-Husseini, referring to the current global situation, said: "At a time when various societies face challenges such as religious, political, ethnic, and sectarian divisions, Islamic teachings and the Ahl al-Bayt's legacy can guide people toward mutual respect, justice, solidarity, and responsible behavior."
He stressed that the Islamic community today needs insight, unity, and a strengthened spirit of responsibility more than ever, and that divisions and prejudices must not distance people from Islam's fundamental principles and human values.
Human Consequences of Wars and Global Crises
The head of the Imamia Association of Gilgit, referring to ongoing developments and crises in the world, said: "The world today faces numerous wars, armed conflicts, political tensions, and humanitarian crises, and in such conditions, ordinary people and civilians bear the greatest loss and suffering."
Referring to tensions between Islamic Iran and America and rising insecurity and crisis in the Middle East, he said these developments have once again raised the fundamental question of who bears the real cost of wars and armed conflicts.
Al-Husseini added that the consequences of war are not limited to the battlefield but also affect the lives of civilians, families, economies, trade, infrastructure, and social security — with effects that may remain in people's lives for years.
Need for Unity and Responsibility in the Islamic World
The Friday prayer leader of Gilgit, emphasizing the need for vigilance amid regional developments, said: "In the current situation, the Islamic world must adopt an approach based on unity, insight, and responsibility instead of becoming trapped in divisions and emotional polarizations."
He added that preserving human life and dignity must be a fundamental principle in confronting global developments and crises, and that Muslims must act to reduce human suffering and support peace and justice in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Emphasis on Dialogue and Peaceful Solutions
In conclusion, al-Husseini stressed that to resolve international disputes and crises, justice, mutual respect, dialogue, and negotiation must take priority over resorting to force and expanding conflict.
He said any action that helps preserve human life, reduce violence, and pave the way for lasting peace must be considered, because preserving human dignity and life is among the important principles of Islamic teachings and the Ahl al-Bayt's legacy.
